This semester has probably been one of the hardest of my college career. Completing my senior year online has had its challenges, but it has also provided me with several opportunities that I might not have had otherwise. One of these opportunities is becoming a dance teacher at Dick Barker School of Dance in Ludlow, MA.

I started as a student at Dick Barker when I was four years old. I took jazz for fourteen years where I was able to dance with the Senior Jazz team and perform a few solos. I was also able to join the Senior Ballet team my senior year of high school. This studio instilled within me a love for dance and choreography. Jenna and Deb challenged me to be the best dancer I could possibly be all while retaining my passion for performing and a musical theatre style dance.

I am so happy to be back here three years later to pass on my love for dance and musical theatre to the next generation. I am teaching a musical theatre style dance class where I get to create the curriculum, create lesson plans, and teach the class. I teach two different sections, one for children ages 6-10 and one for adults ages 16 and up. The kids are currently learning a combination to "Bikini Bottom Day" from Spongebob Squarepants the Musical and the adults are learning a combination to "Magic to Do" from Pippin. Throughout this uncertain time, we have been teaching in the studio following all CDC guidelines, wearing masks, marking off socially distant boxes for the kids to dance in, and thoroughly cleaning the studio after each class. I am so grateful that I can continue what I love to do and do it safely. I will be staying for the spring semester and my classes will be performing a routine in the studio's annual recital in June 2021. Be on the lookout for some videos including my choreography soon!
